COVID-19: KWSG commends kwara poly

Kwara State government has commended management and staff of the State Polytechnic, (KwaraPoly) Ilorin for it contribution in  fighting the Corona-virus pandemic.

Kwara State Deputy Governor and Chairman, COVID-19 Committee in the state, Mr Kayode Alabi, who made the commendation today in Ilorin while receiving the Polytechnic's donation of  two pedal-operated hand washing machines to the state government, described the innovation as commendable in light of the World Health Organisation(WHO) prescription of regular hand washing to prevent Corona-virus infection.

The deputy governor recommended the device for adoption by hospitals and offices in the state.

Rector, Kwara State Polytechnic, Engineer (Doctor) Abdul Jimoh who was a member of the Polytechnic's team for the presentation said the initiative was by the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the institution.

According to the Rector, the pedal-operated hand washing machine was invented to minimise the spread of COVID-19 in the state.

He said the machine has two pedals; the left side which dispenses soap while the right dispenses water.

The State Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Hajia Sa'adat Modibbo Kawu led the Polytechnic’s team to the office of the Deputy Governor.
