By Ishaq Alafinju

Chairman of Kwara State National Union of Teachers (NUT) Comrade  Toyin Saliu has attributed the crisis rocking the state wing of the union as lack of adequate communication between the  teachers and the state government.

Comrade Toyin made this known while fielding questions  from National Moonlight reporter on Tuesday after the protest staged at his office in Ilorin.

According to him, Teaching Service Commission, TESCOM, and State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, Teachers protested over non payment of salary arrears and non promotion by the state government which the government had earlier promised to clear.

He explained that the NUT has submitted a proposal before the speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Yakubu Danladi and the chief of staff to the governor which has been approved .

He said "Communication problem between the government and the Teachers are the main problem".

He urged teachers in the state to shield their swords for peace and mutual understanding, pointing out that since the inception of the present administration, the teachers’ salaries have been paid as at when due and many more opportunities would come their way as they continue their cooperation in support of the government.
