Ndakene empowers women with N100m grants

Honourable member, House of Representatives,  representing Moro, Edu and Patigi Local Government Areas of Kwara State, Hon Ahmed Abubakar Ndakene has launched the first phase  disbursement of Women Empowerment Scheme under his constituency development initiative (HAAN-CODI ).

The Lawmaker, represented by a former chairman, Edu local government council , Hon Isa Manuga, gave a grant of N10,000 to 200 women in Shonga district "to boost their economic activities ".

Flagging off the disbursement at Shonga Market square, Hon Ndakene said the scheme was designed to enhance the income generating capacity of hardworking women.

According to him, the scheme was also designed to provide beneficiaries with access to an interest-free revolving loan to enable them expand their economic activities.
He pointed out that "HAAN-CODI" is a developmental initiative aimed at  empowering grassroot development through provision of well tailored training of already identified areas such as ICT, Livestock development, crop production and agro allied processing among others.

"This Women Empowerment Scheme (WES) was one of the components of the "HAAN CODI" development initiatives and it is targeted towards empowering five thousand (5,000) women throughout the four (4) year tenure in order for them to be self reliant and better positioned in the society.

" To achieve the objectives of the  programme, an empowerment hubs will be created for all Districts one at a time. By so doing, it would span the entire constituency where every ward would benefit.

" Tsaragi and Lafiagi would be the next districts to be considered in Edu local government after which it would turn to Moro and Patigi council areas", he said.

The Hon member thanked members of his constituents for their support and cooperation towards development of the the constituency,  Kwara north and the state.

Hon Ndakene advised youths in the area against acts capable of  "tarnishing the good image of Kwara North and creating an atmosphere of insecurity in the state ".

The lawmaker further thanked the Royal fathers and stakeholders of the constituency for their efforts and contributions towards maintaining peace , unity and harmonious coexistence among the people.
