Leadership is about helping the people – Kwara Deputy Gov

Kwara State Deputy Governor, Mr Kayode Alabi

The Kwara State Deputy Governor, Mr Kayode Alabi described leadership as a service to humanity and way of helping people to develop the state as a whole.

Mr Alabi stated this while addressing the Congregation at the 59 Independence Anniversary Celebration Church Service held at Saint John African Church, Maraba, Ilorin on Sunday.

The Deputy Governor called on Nigerians  to pray for the government to do the right thing at the right time.

"I am happy to be here today, I am happy will won the Election, God did it for us as His people. Pray for us, yes we won the physical battles next is the spiritual war that must be won" he stressed.

Mr Alabi who represented Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq at the Service called on the people to embrace peace as the government strive to develop the State in all areas of human endeavours.

The Deputy Governor noted that he can never vouch for anybody, but will vouch for Governor AbdulRazaq whom he described as an upright man interested in fixing the State.

The Chairman of the State Christian Association of Nigeria CAN, Evangelist Timothy Opoola prayed that the Lord would deliver the Nation from all its challenges as will celebrate at 59.

Evangelist Opoola who is a Professor of Mathematics thanked God for liberating the State as God rules in the affairs of man, pledging the support of the Christian Community to the government.

In his message, the Bishop of Saint John African Church, Maraba, Ilorin, Right Reverend Felix Folarin Ogunmodede congratulated the Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq led government for their victory calling on the government to hit the ground running for the benefit of the people.

"We knew what happened before the election, we knew what transpired before the election and the struggle the people went through before the coming of the present government now a dream" he added.

Reverend Ogunmodede said "when this government came into power it was like a revival, the way God moved in the state was a surprise adding that to whom much is given, much is expected".

The Bishop called on the government to fulfil its electioneering campaign promises to the people and rule with the fear of God.

The Cleric who commended the various initiaive of the government advised it to be fair and appoint Youth into their cabinet.

He challenged the government to address the various rot in the Country particularly corruption and illegally acquisition of wealth among others.

Reverend Ogunmodede urged the Federal Government to find lasting solutions to the security challenges affecting the Nation especially the farmers/herdsmen crisis and kidnapping.

The Bishop noted that the security of lives and property of Nigerians should be given priority attention.

He called on the people to continue to pray for those in authorities and contribute their quota to the development and progress of the Nation.
Earlier in his address of welcome, the Secretary of the State CAN, Reverend Idowu Ibitoye thanked God for the new leadership that emerged in the state which he noted had displayed sincerity, passion and commitment in moving the State forward.

Reverend Ibitoye added "we have lots of reasons to celebrate Nigeria anniversary, because God had been faithful to our dear Nation, Nigeria as the largest, most populous country in Africa, with divers cultural heritage, blessed with both human and material resources.

"Nigeria is endowed with good atmospheric condition, Nigerian citizens are doing exploits in all walks of life around the globe. For these reasons, we need to give thanks to our God".

The third scriptural reading was read by the Deputy Governor taken from Psalm 126.1-6, the Head of Service, Mrs Dupe Oluwole and the State Commissioner of Police, Kayode Egbetokun had earlier taken the first and Second reading.

The 59 Independence Anniversary Celebration Church Service was attended  by the wife of the Deputy Governor, Mrs Tokunbo Alabi, Deputy House Leader, Mr John Olanreawju Bello and his wife, members of the State Security Council, Permanent Secretaries and the Executive Chairman of the State Internal Revenue Service, Mrs Folashade Omoniyi.
