KWSG: Stop dumping refuse on water way to save lives, property, Kwarans advised

The Kwara State government has pledged to address the perennial flooding affecting the State to save lives and property.

The State Deputy Governor, Mr Kayode Alabi stated this in Ilorin while on-the-spot assessment of the evacuation of the debris on Asa river and visit to flood affected areas at Coca Cola road.

Mr Alabi advised the people to desist from dumping refuse on the drainage system and water ways.

The Deputy Governor stated that the dumping of refuse is causing havoc to the people and blocking the free flow of the river.

He called on the relevant organisations to rise to the occasion of clearing the water ways to allow for flow of water.

The Director of the State Fire Service, Mr. Waheed Yakub who is conducting the evacuation exercise said the organisation had been doing it best to clean the debris that is blocking the free flow of water particularly at the Unity Bridge.

Mr Yakub also advised the people to desist from dumping refuse into the river and called for the provision of life jackets among others to ensure smooth performance of their duty.
