KWHA bans alcohol consumption in Ilorin

The Kwara State House of Assembly recently, passed a bill on the ban of selling and consumption of alcohol in Ilorin Metropolis. Some residents of Ilorin, the Kwara State capital in an interview with this medium gave their views on the issue.

According to Oyenikan Abdul Azeez, an entrepreneur, the law is not effective because it is still rampant in the town.

He therefore calls for the active intervention of the three arms of government in making the general enforcement rather than focusing on some parts of Ilorin.

He further explained that the companies selling the alcohol drinks to the people should be banned from operation is the only way to stop selling and consumption of alcohol in Ilorin.

He charged the law enforcement agencies to perform their roles as well in making the ban more effective either by dialogue or by force.

In his contrary view, OlugbengaOlatunde, a student said this not the right time to stop selling alcohol is being and its eradication in the society.

A graphic designer, Mr. John Oladele, said that he does not consume alcohol but he is not happy with the decision of the government because that is where some people get their daily bread.

Majority of the residents of Ilorin however, enjoined religious bodies, governments, mass media to vigorously campaigns towards eradication of alcohol drinks in Ilorin.
