African Drum Winner, a testimony of passion and support-Perm Sec

The Permanent Secretary, Kwara State Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Hajia Halimat Jumai Kperogi has described the just concluded African Drum Festival victory in Ogun State by the state contingents (Arts& Culture Troupe) as a testimony of the passion and the support of the Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed.
Hajia Kperogi stated this in a release signed by the ministry Press Secretary, Mashood Agboola Abdulrafiu and made available to the National Moonlight recently, explained that the present administration under Governor Ahmed created more interest and commitment to cultural developments in the state and this ensured their victory.
She stressed that the performance of the State Arts Council, a Parastatal under the ministry has made the state proud by emerging champion with a N2million prize amidst the overall 22 State cultural troupes at the keenly contested cultural competition held recently.
The Perm Sec confirmed that the troupe from Kwara State stood out with their unique  display and other considerations, he extolled the state government‘s commitment to the sector, stressing that the welfare of the troupe have always enjoyed the priority attention of the government.
Keperogi added that the award is one of the series of such won by the troupe nationally and internationally, noting that this projects the image of the state at the national communities.
She said, “development of cultural heritage is key, not only to  tourists and create job opportunities but also to assist the economy of the given society”.
She however expressed joy that the state Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, out of appreciation for the state cultural ambassador promised to look into the ministry and council operational challenges such as lack of utility vehicles, non-representation of Kwara North in the troupe, poor status of the theater hall among others.
The Perm Sec added that the Governor’s vow to sponsor the troupe’s participation at the international festival in India, scheduled to hold between 21st and 26th May 2018 is highly commendable.

The runner-ups at the drum festival were, Enugu State, which came second with a prize of N1million naira and the host- Ogun State, which took home N500,000 as the second runner up.
