Makama of Ilorin hails new ANCOPSS boss

The newly elected President of the Association of Nigeria Confederation of Principal of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS) Alhaji Toyin Abdullahi has been urged to see his new responsibility as a challenge and be ready to serve humanity.
This advice was sounded by the 1st Makama of Ilorin and the Chairman Parent Teachers Association (PTA), Kwara State Chapter Alhaji Ibrahim Oniye while speaking during a thank giving prayer session for the new ANCOPSS president on Sunday in Ilorin.
The traditional chief advised him to see the position as unique, an opportunity and challenge towards improving the welfare of the teachers in the state, warning him to desist from probing his predecessor on the mantle of leadership.
He enjoined the new president to remember the people and allow the fear of Allah to be his watchword by doing well and carrying other people along for the progress of the association, noting that all positions of authority was a burden for every responsible leader.
Oniye remarked that the position was a challenge but believes that the Almighty Allah would assist him to succeed in his new assignment as the state ANCOPSS president, charging him to always consider people’s opinion as they would one day return back to base after their tenure. Alhaji Toyin, while speaking with National Moonlight shortly after the programme, assured that he would work in line with the union’s agenda towards improving teacher’s welfare through understanding the government.
He said, “I will make a difference in my new task and I will ensure harmonious relationship and understanding between the government and the teachers”.
The president called on the government at all levels to improve on the teacher’s well-being by improving on the welfare of the chalk holders for them to work for the standard of education in the country.
Toyin commended the effort of the stakeholders on education, beginning from the state government to the immediate past commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Engr. Musa Ayinla Yeketi and the chairman, teaching service commission for their support.
