Gov Ahmed releases board appointments

…A good omen for Kwara politics – Jimoh Balogun, others

The Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed yesterday released the composition of 20 parastatals in the state.
The chairmen and board members are 176 in all according to a statement issued by Secretary to the Kwara State Government, (SSG) Alhaji Isiaka Sola Gold.
According to the statement, “the government said the composition was driven by the efforts of the state government to achieve efficiency and effectiveness in the management of the affairs of the parastatals in the state.
It added that the appointment of the boards is also designed to enhance productivity and boost the sense of belonging to the people in the state.
While congratulating the new appointees, Gold urged them to serve the government and people diligently.
In their separate reactions, some members of All Progressives Congress (APC) have commented on the appointment.
Speaking with National Moonlight on phone, the chairman of All Progressives Congress, Kwara South Senatorial district, Alhaji Jimoh Balogun, commended Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed over the appointment.
He said the appointment is a good omen for Kwara politics, adding that the just released appointment is another way of recognition of those who worked for the victory of the party during the last election.
He said "We at the party level are happy over the appointment".
Governor is making everybody happy in the state, assuring that other appointments will be released soon. In his comments, the former Transition Implementation Committee Chairman, Hon. Abdul-Hameed Oladipupo praised the state governor for the composition of board appointment.
He said he has gone over the list and found out that it was well-balanced and a welcome development. He explained that the development marks the beginning of political activities in the state, disclosing that many people were happy that the vacuum in Fatah's administration had been filled.
“This will make it easy for All Progressives Congress, come 2019 general elections", he said.
Also speaking, one of the APC elders in Ilorin South Local Government, Alhaji Nuhu Baba Podo noted that the dividend of democracy is gradually coming to the people at grass roots.
He confirmed that the nominees emerged from different wards and the people were jubilating in the town over the appointment.
He advised the governor as a matter of urgency to release the appointment of the state Commissioners, Special Advisers and Assistants to take care of people’s expectations.
Baba Podo reminded that recently, the governor made pronouncement that he will set aside N4 billions to clear some bag-log of salary of SUBEB and staff of local governments in the state.
It could be recalled that NATIONAL MOONLIGHT Newspaper in the last edition reported that Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed will release the list of board appointments into various state parastatals this week.
It was also reported that the appointment of liaison officers, youth empowerment coordinators, special advisers, special assistants and commissioners would also be announced in subsequent weeks.
