Kwara Basketball, among third best


Kwara State Veteran Basketball Team has clinched the third position at the just concluded Veteran Games held in Lagos. 

FCT came first with River State claiming the second spot in the Championship attended by over ten States including Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Rivers and Kwara.
Receiving the team in his office, the Kwara State Director of Sports, Mallam Tunde Kazeem commended them for their brilliant performance urging them not to relent in their effort to develop the game,
Mallam Kazeem implored the team to focus more on developing the game at the grassroots particularly among the youth to ensure the growth of sports in the state.

The Director charged them to collaborate with the government particularly in sponsoring under age competitions.

He stated that the State would continue to play its part in the development of Sports with the provision of favorable environment.

Meanwhile, An indigenous sportswear manufacturing company based in Lagos,Nigeria,AFA sports has entered an agreement with who to brand the Nigeria volleyball national team.

In fulfillment of its part of the agreement, the company was on ground yesterday at the national stadium Abuja to unveil and kit the women national team which will be participating at the Africa Nations Cup in Cameroon starting on Saturday.

Receiving the kits, the president of the federation, Musa Nimrod appreciated the kind gesture of AFA sports for its sponsorship of the team expressing gratitude to CAVB for accepting Nigeria to use AFA brand which is not among the original brand approved by the regulatory body.

The representative of AFA sports Anthoinette Lecky who is the head of operations of the outfit expressed her goodwill to the team promising to help facilitate further corroborations with the federation to advance the game of volleyball in all its ramifications, with special interest in branding of the teams in all volleyball events. 

In his remarks,the scribe of the federation,Adamu Maikano expressed gratitude to all those who have contributed to the success of the branding deal. 

Similarly, Nigeria is preparing for the male championship scheduled for Cairo Egypt; and also the junior African championship in Niamey Niger. 


The national women Team has since taken off to Yaounde to participate alongside other African countries that qualified from other regional zones.
